Dr. Tommy,
You're right on. About the 3rd time I had my car out at nite, I was on an almost empty road w/my high beams on. I'd been working late & was starving & hoping my wife had left some supper in the oven...

Saw a local patrol car turn towards me from a side road on my right a hundred or so yards ahead. Since I didn't want to blind him I flipped my light switch up. Of course it shut them all the way off & it took forever to turn them on again. (It didn't help that I was twisting the switch as well since I wasn't familiar with it yet.)

The squad car passed me,then made a quick U-turn, pulled me over & made me sit there for 15-20 min. or so while they ran my plates & grilled me as to why i'd turned my lights off. They were not amused.

It's hard being polite to the nice man in blue when you're starving to death & just want to get home to eat & sleep...

It is a little freaky to be driving along and all of the sudden be driving in the dark.

Yeh the headlight system sucks. I turn my headlights off from time to time making a right lane change in the dark. The people infront of me must wonder whats up my a s s.

The guy who designed it must be the same idiot who did the headlight switch high/low beam option. How many of you turn your lights off when you are dimming them for traffic, or with your left knee completely accidentally?
It seems like it takes an hour for those things to pop back up when your doing 80 or 90 at night on a dark two lane.

Bill,

If you have the original Trico/Carello wipers on your car, you might want to maintain originality and just place new wiper refills. Mine take a 16" standard refill (9mm width).

My '82 308 GTS QV column switch has 3 positions:
OFF-DELAY-ON.
Maybe I should say 'had' as it's still broken(sigh).

I have a 78 308 and they have two speeds. Slow with the switch on and even slower with the switch off. Thank God for Rain X

Speaking of wipers, what size blade is on them and do you recommend any particular brand?

Mine is an 83. I guess the first position on my colomn is a delay also. Maybe my console switch just isn't working right.

My 79 308 has a preset delay that the column switch controls. It has the position for wipers on or wipers delay and the console switch changes the speed. What year is your 308?

My column switch in the first postion has them on slow and the second position is a higher speed. The console switch turns them on. Can you tell I don't have much experience using my wipers.

The switch on the console controls the hi and low speeds. The column switch turns them on and off.

Does anyone know why the 308 has two switches(one on the steering wheel and one on the console) to turn on the wipers. It really seems pointless and is a hassle. I got caught in quite a downpour today. Every other car I have seen has one switch to operate the wipers. Do newer Ferraris have this also?
