Roger, could solve my problem with little effort. Just one of the little levers for the handbrake on the calipers was sticking because of dirt/corrosion. Just sprayed some anti-corrosion oil on the lever and the spring and moved it by hand several times until the spring moved the lever back itself. Everything o.k. now. Good luck with yours. |

Harry-I had a similar problem problem with my '80 308. The previous owner had actually broken the cable where it connects to the brake lever near the firewall under the console. So I installed a new cable with great difficulty and it still doesn't release properly I believe due to all the "crud" inside of the tube that the cable is enclosed in and it doesn't slide back and forth smoothly. So I simply disconnected the cable from its location at the rear of the car so the rear brakes don't drag. But I still haven't figured out a fix for it yet, been working on other things. Also check the operation of the rear brakes to make sure the E-brake mechanism is operating freely. Roger B. |

Just went home 2 km from a friend and had the car parked with hand brake on a hill. On the way back the hand brake lever was not pulled back to the normal position and the brake was not released. So the rear left brake was applied. I suppose the central lever or the cable sticks. Anybody had this problem? Would be just good to know where to look first tomorrow morning. The disk was glowing dark red after this adventure even though I drove very slowly. Is there any damage to expect from this? Harry |
