If you want to modify your headlight circuit to have the running lights on, and the headlights in the down position, then go to www.ferrariclub.com and check the FAQ's. There is an article I co-wrote on how to modify the circuit (easy).

On my '85 308, when I twist the end, the headlights pop up (unilluminated) and the parking lights come on. The second postion, illuminates the headlights, and the third is hi-beams. My Q is: is it possible to just turn on the parking lights w/o the headlights popping up? Is this correct on my car?

In the first "twist" position, unmodified 308's turn on the running lights and pop up the headlamp lifters, but do not turn on the headlamps themselves. The next "twist" position turns on the headlamps. Then moving the stalk up and down selects between low-beam and hi-beam.

What's the correct procedure for the lights?
As I understand it, the running lights should come on when the control knob is twisted while it is in the first position. Then the headlights come up when the control knob is moved to the second position. And finally, the high beams come on at the third position.
I seem to have a problem. Everything comes on only when I twist the knob to a halfway position. Would this be a light relay or something? I hear clicking sounds as I move the knob to each position.
