Glad to hear it was a simple fix, Theo... had the same thing happen as well. Took the 308 for about a 10 mile drive once (not long after installing the new custom floor mats). Crazy car idled very high on start up, and never came down. You should have seen me trying to coordinate the clutch, shifts, braking, etc. during that drive! Wasn't until exiting the car back home that the floor mat slid away from the pedal, and the idle dropped to normal, that I realized the cause. |

It turned out that the throttle pedal was stuck a bit and was not returning back all the way. After closer examination, it was the floor mat that was blocking it! (I moved the seat up since I am shorter than the previous owner and when I did the seat must have moved the floor matt an inch or two). |

(I'm sounding like a broken record, but if the throttle plate closing action checks OK) try closing (blocking) one of the aux air valve lines. Does the problem go away when warm? |

Try physically closing the throttle. Do it at the butterfly. Does that lower the idle speed? |

My 87 328 idles too high when I start it, around 4k. After a minute or two, it drops down .5k to around 3.5K. Even after I start driving, it still stays around 3.5K. I checked the manual and adjusted the engine idle speed by pass screw until I couldn't tighten it any more. But it still idles high! Any suggestions or thought would be greatly appreciated! Theo |
