No, I didn't make it to Mantorp last year because of that bad Bilstein shock. That's a pity. All I have is max speeds thru some bends on the road. The difference in handling and road holding is so dramatic even with this bad set-up that I'm 100% sure that I'll go faster on any track now. I don't have any problem with that decision. According to a raceteam running on well tuned Ohlins they would be approx 2 sec slower on Mantorp with taditional sportdampers such as Koni Sport or Bilstein Sport. Jorma, when are you comming to Stockholm? Ciao Peter |

Peter, have you some laptimes from Mantorp, that you can compare to your new setup? Feeling is good, but better laptimes are even better. M.v.h. Jorma |

I have been out testing my brand new Ohlins Racing shocks on my 328 GTB. Ohlins 46DR Racing check www.ohlins.se for more info. They have externally adjustable rebound low speed damping and adjustable ride height. All other damping properties are also adjustable but you have to tear them apart. The springs are 100% stiffer than the original ones. I do not have the correct ride height yet. Its about 10-15 mm too high both front and rear so the geometry is not correct. Nevertheless, the feeling is just fantastic, Im so happy for those dampers. They give much more control in the wheel movement, all kind of transients are gone, just a very nice feeling of good damping control. They are not hard but strong. Its very difficult to explain the feeling even in Swedish. Ohlins dampers are well known for giving less tyre wear, after this first test I do now fully understand that. On bumpy roads they works fine but the ride is a little bit harsh. On smooth roads and at high speed the confidence is stunning. I came in an little bit too fast into a high speed bend. The confidence for the handling I had already after 80 miles of driving was amazing, just brake a little and go thru the bend without any drama. I also met a tractor on the wrong side of the road so I have already tested high speed braking with the same result, confidence. My previous dampers were OEM Bilstein Sport. Yes thats right, some of the Ferraris where delivered with Bilstein instead of Koni. They do also have the square Ferrari emblem engraved in them. Next week I will put on shorter springs to enable more ride height adjustment. I will lower the car about 1 from where its now and redo the suspension set up for the new ride height and add more camber at the front. I have not played with the adjuster yet. That will be a later project to obtain optimal balance. Ciao Peter
