A few other people that have done their own services just ordered a bunch of random shims from TRutlands before they started. For the most part with the shims they already have and a bunch or extra ones they could get it right. |

YO-LOW MEASURE YOUR OLD SHIMS AS YOU REMOVE THEM. IF YOUR NEW ONES DO'NT MIKE OUT RIGHT YOU HAVE A RESERVE SET TO MIX AND MATCH. BEST REGARDS, HEATH |

I'm planning to send my car to a workshop for valve adjustment, but after consulting my mechanic (not an authorised workshop) was told that even removing and measuring the shims may not give totally acurate clearances when installing new ones. He said it is better to have many different sizes available to facilitate this. However I live in Singapore and it takes a week or more for parts to arrive from UK/US. So if shims ordered do not all match, my car may be off the road for quite some time! Is the comment accurate? Thanks. |
