I'm not a 328 guy, but I *heard* that these cars needed to crank at 50rpm (if I remember correctly), else the FI won't let it start.

Let's label this hearsay, but may be worth checking out.

or just bad gas? if gas sits in my race car longer than 3-4 months, I replace it.

Is your engine cranking faster than usual?

Is it possible you have water in your gas tank?

When was your fuel filter changed?

Take a plug out and see if it is wet.

That was the first thing I checked. I changed them two years/8,000 miles ago.

Let's start from the beginning. Last winter I started the beast to let it run a bit and all was fine for the first five minutes. Next thing it starts bogging down, lights dimming and then finally died. I had the alternator checked and it was fine but I had it gone through anyway. Now what I notice is that the solenoid in the cold start injector clicks every ten seconds with the key in the on position. It is spraying while I'm cranking the engine and then backfiring in either direction. Could the thermo time switch have gone bad and flooded the car to begin with. No sputtering or rumble of any kind. Just the starter spinning like mad and oil pressure building. It won't even fire off with the electrical connector disconected. Also can the fuel pressure be tested just at the distributor without tying in to the warm up regulator?
