The slots are fairly correct. Your timing belt is off. That happens when they change the belts without the bearings. I am afraid but you have to do it again. There is no way of doing it with the engine in the car.

I have a recently purchased 1989 348ts. I believe the left bank cam timing is off. A new belt had been installed prior to purchase in another state.
My left bank HCs are 2500ppm and vacuum is at 12" @ 900 rpm. My right bank HCs are 250ppm.
My two questions are these: 1) Are the timing slots in the cover accurate for checking purposes as the left bank marks are off one tooth to the retarded when the right bank slots are on. And 2) is there a way to correct this in car without the alignment tools?
