Thanks Steve - You are right that I am looking at the 1978 OM and Parts Manual on the Steve Jenkins site when I have a 1979 vehicle since I don't have the 1979 Manuals yet. I have confirmed the fan warning light and choke on are correct and both work. Thank you for your kind assistance. |

Gene -- Are you sure that the OM that you're referencing is the right year/version to match your car. My 1978 US version Owner's Manual (150/78) shows the orange light on the upper left as the "FAN warning light" (so it should come on with the fan blower motor) and the yellow light on the upper right is the "Warning light for choke ON" (there's a ground spring goodie that makes contact with the metal choke lever if it's moved from the home position). The square "Rear defroster switch and warning light" toggle switch is also shown clearly in this (150/78) manual. I can confirm that this matched my ex-'78 308GTS, and I'd be very surprised if there were any changes for a '79 US car. |

There is a yellow (? cap is missing) warning light in the upper right dash, part no. 40083602, called a "Spare Indicator" in the owners manual. Does it do anything? There is an orange warning light in the upper left dash, part no. 40083701, called a "defroster warning light" in the owners manual. Does it do anything? Is this perhaps in lieu of the dash light? Is this original or a "fix"? My 1979 308 GTS has a separate square toggle switch at the very rear of the console, unlike the other swithces with the round knobs, which appears to be for the rear window defroster. It has its own orange indicator light. |
