I guess there are differences even amongst the models which use the same engine. The GT4 P.C. lists no fan to remove vapours. That third line and electrovalve bring in vapours, from what appears to be just another fitting under the air-box (drawing isn't very clear in the book). You're probably correct with that number (111737). |

You're probably right Peter -- there's an extra port on the '78~'79 B/S canister to receive the vapors from the airbox via the little blower fan, but no electrovalve is involved, so I'm unsure about the compatibilty of the 308GT4 part number that you show -- the 111737 number is from the '78 US 308GTB/S SPC. |

As well Steve, there is a third fitting on the canister shell, whose line is connected to an electrovalve (according to my '79 GT4 P.C.). This is not present on the one I have for my car (I'm quite positive the GT4's and GTB/S' of that year - '79 - would share the same components. That's P/N: 113031). Thanks Mitch for posting the link to that topic. |

Bruno -- the later '78~'79 charcoal canister (111737) is a little different than the ~'75 308GT4 part -- the hot air tube on the bottom is angled and longer. The FPE website and the McCann website both show it. |

Ken -- both my carbed-308 and TR OMs have a dedicated section (titled: "Evaporative emission control system") describing the function and showing the location of the charcoal canister(s) -- I'm sure your 308QV OM does too. |

The canister is part of the emission control system, and in the TR runs from the roll-over valve (fuel tank vent) to the charcoal canister. I changed mine a few months ago. Cost $35 each (two of them) from Ferrari. I had a pretty bad gas smell in the car, but it proved not to be the canister. However, a saturated canister can give you that smell. A bad canister, if saturated, will weigh more than when new, and in my case, I could turn the canister over and charcoal granules would pour out (not suppose to happen). The canister appears the same on many F-cars. That is the extent of my knowledge on canisters. Jim S. |

I don't know of any cross-over. The one I got for my car, I bought at the dealer for around a $100 Cdn (considering his prices on other parts for the motor, I thought - and I still think - it was a steal...). |
