Mark Foley...there is a place here in Florida that does steering wheel restorations. The name of the company is AGLA (Alan Gun Leather), and they advertise in FORZA. I seem to recall another Ferrari owner or two here on F-Chat that had their steering wheel redone by AGLA. I'm considering sending mine off to them as well in the future. For now, however, I simply covered my steering wheel with "WheelSkins" (a leather covering that you hand-sew onto the wheel and comes in a variety of colors). I've used WheelSkins on a couple other cars in the past -- they look and feel terrific. The main reason I put them on the 308 was to "preserve" the existing condition of the steering wheel. You can find WheelSkins locally at fine automotive stores or on the internet at places like www.autoseattle.com... and if you choose to have the wheel restored, then you can contact AGLA at: 7027 W. Broward Blvd. #292, Plantation, FL 33317 Phone: (800) 780-4500 Fax: (954) 472-9836 Email: [email protected] Hope this helps. |

Thanks to everyone for the information. Think I'll just return the Momo and redo the Nardi, the leather and stitching are fine really just some paint chips on the spokes to fix. Steve |

the NOS momo has the same patern as the monte carlo....those GTSi's used the nardi wheels with the funky looking horn button (smaller) and different bolt patern...F changed back to the momo with the QVs...QVs use a wheel almost identical to the Monte Carlo...just different grain of leather and white stitching. your going to have to make an adaptor or find one to make the momo work on your car. Ferrari parts exchange is on crack with some of the prices for those wheels...shop around...I found an NOS momo for a 78/79 GTS/GTB for $150...I think he's quoting something like $800 beans.

If that's the case, an adapter would bring the wheel about 4 inches closer. A good machine shop can convert the MOMO adapter for the Monte Carlo to fit the GTSi's hub. The shop could narrow the adapter somewhat as well. I did that years ago to fit a MOMO Veloce to an older car. An alternative is a NOS MOMO wheel which Ferrari Parts Exchange carries: http://www.ferraripartsexchange.com/steeringwheels.htm |

The Nardi wheel has "Ferrari" and "E. Nardi" (signature) stamped on it. The hole for the counter sunk hex bolts are slightly off being just a wee bit smaller, measured accross the wheel, on the Momo. And yes, I really can spell break not brake (I'm rather ashamed of myself). Steve |

Stephen, The MOMO steering wheel was OEM for the GTSi and should fit unless a hub adapter was placed to accommodate the Nardi wheel. Barry |

Well, the 308 GTSi is back after three weeks at Norwood's in Dallas. The 30,000 KM check is now up to date (I'm not certain just how far out it was). Lacking the time, and energy, to do the bloody thing myself I find that it was most certainly for the best to have Norwood's do it. They found a couple of things I might well have missed, the cam drive bearings were bad being the most critial. James Patterson was easy and pleasant to work with, Norwood's did nothing to the car without my knowledge and there were no surprises on the bill. Overall a pricey (I guess its the "if you wish to dance you must pay the fiddler" thing) but positive experience and I may now stop worrying that I'll brake a belt. Now for the question, I purchased a Momo Monte Carlo steering wheel after being assured by Wilco that it would fit. Of course it doesn't. Are there any tricks I'm missing or must it go back? The old wheel is a Nardi that is really in good shape I just like the Monte Carlo better. As always, thanks in advance. |
