I agree totally with Peter, that's about the only way something like that can happen! (To the 308) |

James, it does sound like a leaky gasket. I doubt that the covers are warped, I have mine off now and looking underneath, they have heavy ribs criss-crossing, very stout. The gasket is in three pieces (for my GT4, but most likely the same for your QV): two along the edges and one going down the middle where the spark-plug holes are. This is probably the one that has been messed up. |

Can't help you with your troubles, but T.Rutlands is a good source for parts and reasonable prices. Their number is (770)493-8852. You should also try the sponsor of this website Nick. He is stocking more and more parts for 308's and may have what you need. P.S. I would call LFSP and see if they will help cover you for repair work you need. If they were at fault, they may still help out on the cost. |

I found the spark plug chamber half filled with oil on both banks of my 84 308. Only one plug chamber per bank, the front and the rear chamber. Is this a common problem? Will replacing the valve cover gasket solve this problem? Can the valve covers be warped? I had a 15,000 mile service done less than 1,000 miles ago by Lake Forest Sport Cars. Seem like they did a poor job on my car and double charged me for one of the services. I can't bring it back to them because I'm now in Northern California and will have to fix it myself. Any help will be appreciated. Also, where can I get a good set of ignition cables, complete with extenders and boot caps for a reasonable price. |
