Thanks Guys, I've used pure alcohol and that seems to get me down to the primer of the rubberized stuff but I never thought of WD40. I think I will try that. I already did the door handles. Those are a piece of cake compared to the plastic pieces. The door handles are metal underneath therefore I used finger nail polish remover and it took the stuff right off down to the primer. The finger nail polish remover will actually eat the plastic so that's where I couldn't find a good solution to take off the rubberized stuff.

I talked to the Ferrari dealer and they indicated that the rubberized pieces get very sticky in the heat and get gooey from cleaners. Being in Dallas I have both situations. I don't care what causes it...just get the damn stuff off. You would think these are Hyundai cars we are dealing with!

I just did this last weekend. For the gooey sticky stuff on the A/C vents, use WD40 and rub off with a rag, it will come off and looking almost brand new. If you have doubt, just pop one vent out and take 5-10 minutes to clean it, you'll be amazed! I'm going to clean the door handles and center console next.

I just completed refinishing my interior parts. I used denatured alcohol and 0000 superfine steel wool pads to strip off the worst coating and them used a plastic scrubber and waer to finish the job. I then painted them with a black satin paint and they look like new. They are not 'original' but they will not melt in the Florida heat again. I disagree with Frank that the cleaning products are the cause for the melting. I know too many people with this problem in Florida. Cleaning products may be part of the problem but heat seems to be a factor in most of the postings that I have read. Good Luck which ever way you go.

Replace them with factory parts and then only clean the new ones with water. It is those cleaning and dressing products that have been used on the car's interior over the years that has caused the deterioration.

I know this may have been posted before but I can not find it. What chemicals can be used to remove the Blk rubberized coating on the 348 interior pieces? I saw the topic where this was discussed but no one mentioned the best way of refinishing these pieces. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
