for whatever this is worth, I had a similar problem... it turned out that the fuel distributor (one of the two on my car) was jammed, therefore letting in quite a rich mixture into the combustion chamber...being unable to ignite the mixture due to excessive fuel, the fuel wound up in the oil, since it was not burned...in my case, the mixture was so rich that the fuel was dripping out of my exhaust. Could it that one or two cylinders are not firing...sometimes hard to detect by the way the engine is running...anyhow..those were my two cents worth |

Mike -- Does restarting after sitting overnight (or longer) sometimes take more than a couple/few seconds of starter motor cranking (for the fuel pressure to come back up)? -- would fit with a leaky injector scenario. |

Mike--I'm not a mechanic, so take what I say with a grain of salt. From what I understand, there may be 2 possible culprits. One would be if the ignition is missing/ not sparking as it should and raw gas is getting past the combustion chamber and working its way into the oil. If this were the case though, the car would likely be running rough and plugs would eventually foul. The other reason I've heard of is what you had hypothesized--i e faulty injector(s). I don't think though that a fuel additive would be the answer here. From what I've heard, it may be that the injector seal(s) may be leaking resulting in unburned fuel seeping into the oil. I would guess that this would require injector replacement. However, before you follow through with anything I say , confirm with a mechanic--or at least someone who knows what he's talking about.

I'm getting gasoline in my oil. I first became aware of it when I tried one of those oil analysis mail-ins. I immediately went and had an oil change, but now after just a few months if I smell the oil off the dipstick I can tell it's got a gasoline smell in it again. Someone had said it might be a faulty/dirty fuel injector. I'd run two Techron fuel injector cleaner bottles through on two successive fill ups after the oil change, and the car runs great, so I'd question if that's what's causing it here. Any ideas? I sure don't want to keep running with diluted oil, nor do I want to have to change the oil every 500-1000 miles.
