Mitchell,
The meter I have is the type that measures HC/Co from the tail pipe. The meter costed me 1200.00 used so it should be pretty accurate. If your interested in borrowing it, let me know.

James

What a gracious offer, but my CO ports are all plugged up. If there is a way to use it on the tail pipes then I could use it. Otherwise, it won't do me as much good.

Mitchell,
Was hoping to hear back from you while you were putting your car back together. Glad to hear its up and running. I have a HC / Co meter if you need to borrow it for adjusting your carb to meet emissions. Let me know and I can drop it off.

I've been away from the site for a while, nice to see your project reach a happy end. Best wishes for many troublefree (and exciting) miles from a fellow GT4 owner.......Rolly

Maybe that is just the limitation of the picture I am allowed to post. I keep getting a message that tells me I have to keep the pictures down to 360 pixels x 360 pixels. That is nothing for resolution. Yet, everyone else is posting high rez picture! Somebody must show me how it is done, please.

Mitchel, they look much bigger and deeper than the 14's. I guess it is the angle of the picture. I'll be finishing mine up this winter.

Randolph

Shoot me an email whenever you like to cruise around. There are some other owners I know around San carlos that may find it fun too.

Sunday morning drive along Canada road (peninsula side), over woodside road, along hiway 1, and then back over 92 is a good fun drive.

Great cars, Mitch and Dave! I love reading this kind of stuff. You guy are the essence of Ferrari ownership as far as I'm concerned. Good going!

Mitchell,
A big congrats on getting your baby back on the road...I know it's been a long, educational journey, but there's nothing like that sense of accomplishment of doing it yourself!

I, too, started my BB repair/restoration project about the same time you did...and recently took her on a short, maiden voyage. I been working on this BB for 20 years now, and well..am a bit cautious as to how far I go from home on the "first" trip. Other than a minor coolant leak, she runs, and shifts pretty sweet.

To summarize the repairs done:
New valve guides and exhaust valves
Waterpump rebuild
All water and fuel hoses replaced
Transaxle overhaul (got tired of the leaks and the crunchy third gear)
Clutch
Tubi
Upgraded wheels and tires..
And on and on....

Actually no.

They are original 14 inch Campagnollo. Puny and impossible to find good tires for. I got HR rated on them now, and I guess I better keep the car to under 130 MPH.

Mitchel, are those the aftermarket MOMO 3 piece 16" rims on the car? I just bought a set off of Paul Newman. They look great!

Mitchell, as a fellow 308 GT4 owner, I have been following your progress. Congratulations on getting your car back on the road. As you know, we have some great fall driving weather ahead of us here in California.

Here is a picture of where we went yesterday. That is Pigeon Point Lighthouse 30 miles north of Santa Cruz on Pacific Coast Highway. That little bit of blue is the Pacific Ocean on the left hand side. The resolution limitation is not doing this picture any justice. Anybody who can get to Highway 1, take the drive.

After the GT4 has being a non-running garage queen for 6 months, I took my wife out for a 200 mile drive yesterday, the first really long drive after the engine rebuild.

The car performed beautifully, except I am still running lean (trying to pass smog) so there is much popping from the carbs. That will change soon.

Kept my eyes on the gauges all the time and everything was great. The tripmeter even counts past 110 miles (it was sticking before). The car revs well into 5500 RPM (I don't want to push it way too hard yet), accelerates with a shove in your back, and handles nice and balance.

After I came back, parked it overnight, and checked the car this morning, even the distributor oil leaks went away. Maybe the seal just needed time to bake and seat ...

Life is beautiful again.
