Don, I am also looking for stainless braided hose for the entire engine (to replace stock rubber hose...it is difficult since they are metric, I think Russell can supply but it would help is someone out there has the dia. and lenght specs already. |

The comment about UFI filters is worth elaboration. I tried two of these on my Daytona. One blew the seal in about a mile of driving, making a tremendous mess of the engine compartment. The seal had split into four segments. I returned the filters to the selling dealer, who replaced them with Fram, my usual choice. They commented that their techs glue the seal in with rubber cement the night before applying a filter, and then with the usual application of oil upon installation, they peform acceptably. I tried this with an owner's 308, which he supplied the UFI filter, and it worked. Bill Badurski, Technical Chairman, Ferrari Club of America |

Sam, Both of my banks are bad. No spark. Do you think there is something BEFORE the coils that could go and cause this? I can't believe TWO of something would go at the same time, or would it?? See 308 GTSi not starting No Spark. Thanks for your previous message! Brian |

I used Russell Proflex hose #12-3 (tough to find this stuff sometimes since it is of course metric) I will do the lower hose next- even touh it is not leaking, that has become my std MO - if one componet fails, SAMS RULE: I replace all its "sisters." Interesting, in the FORZA 308 Buyers Guide Ed Shaugnessy says to make a special point on 308's to replace all fuel lines since there is going to be dry rot that can't be seen under the stainless braid hose -- that is EXACTLY what is going on with my oil hose -- Should be be checking/replacing our fuel hoses...let me knowif anyone has inspected these and found trouble...too many 308's are goin up in flames. SENSOR FAILING ALSO....My rear bank of cylinders mysterious stopped firing all of a sudden, could not figure it out...it seems that there is a electronic p/u sensor on the bell housing for each bank and the tach that reads a magnetic indicator ont he flywheel. if this sensor fails (supposed to put out 7 ohm, mine read 0) then you get no spark to that bank. Here is the impt. thing.... the locations are reversed (the front bank sensor is on the rear of the bell housing and the rear bank is on the front of the bell housing...as this fell under "ENZO's RULE" the part that failed for me was the hardest one to get to and R/R! Going back to "SAMS RULE" I will replace all the sensors anyway esp. since if these fail.. you gotta get a tow or ruin the engine running on only 4 cyls. -- part number is 119052 (you need three for the car) and if you can get it under $140 buy it ( an let me know where!) |

The banjos came from this place: Les Produits Hydrauliques R.G. Ltee. 3409 Boul Industriel, Laval, Quebec, Canada, H7L 4S3 Tel: 514-382-4080 Fax: 514-667-8260 So sharpen up on your french! The banjo part #'s are: 20910-1022 (I think) I had Dennis Berg from Finning International build the hoses for me: 604-619-1587 (cell). Tell him Peter from Advance Engineering had those hoses with the funny banjos for a Ferrari. |

Peter, were you able to find fittings that look like the orig. ones and who made them up for you just in case someone wants to have them made up. MAGOO |

That's going to be my next project. Since I received so much help changing my heater hoses, the oil line hoses are next. They don't leak - YET, but as Sam said the hoses are going, going. Better to do them before I have a major disaster ! Regards - Dina |

I've done that already, but my old hoses had old fittings. I had new ones made with new fittings. The female nut-end is easy to find: DIN 20078 24° Light Series, but the banjos had to be sourced out to a supplier in Quebec. It all looks great, shiny gold-cad plating on the fittings... |

This just in.... had a oil leak right under my oil filter, small puddle forms and then starts smokn' ....two posible causes - if you have a UFI filter they are known to have seal failures (UFI knows about this and calls it --installer error) T. Rutlands alerts you to this and recommends FRAM or another filter they don't even sell. OR .. my probleem was the preassure hose from the oil cooler to the filter was leaking. After almost 20 years the rubber inside the hose was all brittle and gave way..solution...Ferrari wanted about $500 for the OEM replacement hose ( I am thinking that their hose was sitting on their shelf for 20 years anyway). So the best solution ..the fittings are reusable and you simply fit them to your new braided hose and you are done! Check you hoses for leaks ..these cars are old and the hoses are going, going gone... |
