Try medium Loctite to secure the screws. At any auto store. |

I had the same problem. I used some silicone sealer along the threads. Holds it snug, but the silicone is not so strong that you can still unscrew it. Probably would allow for some movement if accidently bumped. |

The 308 door mirror mounts are designed to allow the mirror to retreat if hit. I've tighened mine several times but both want to droop during a drive or become maladjusted all too easily. I'm afraid overtightening them plus an accidental contact might result in a bent door panel. (My parked car is occasionally brushed when we carry in groceries plus there are grandkids.) Is this another case of old rubber (the mount washer)?? Perhaps we should have included graphite impregnated mirror washers with the bushing order. So, reef down on the adjustment or is there some kind of better fastener to maintain some degree of slip vs droop? |
