Mitchel, someone had a sound clip of a 308QV w/tubi (hell of a sound to say the least) on a dyno from a couple months ago. I have the file on my comp (I think). |

Chris, Emission wont pass you unless you happen to befriend the guy/gal doing the test before hand. If the test is just a simple look under the car I think you can get away with having the replacement pipes cause most of the inspection sites dont really know what they are looking for on a ferrari and just pass you. If they do a sniffer test you will not pass. We dont have emissions up here in Minnesota so I am lucky however I have kept my cats laying around because they are easy to bolt back on if you just jack up the rear of the car, this allowing you to pass inspection. |

I can attest to the awesome sound that Frank's 348 Spider makes. I followed him for about 100 miles on one of our mountain drives. I was following him in a Mondial 3.2 coupe with a Tubi, and as nice as the Mondy sounded, Franks 348 sounded fantastic!! I need to hear a 308 QV with a Tubi. |

Chris, I love the sound of the exhaust now that I have my cats off...even though I have only driven it once since doing it. The car sounds much meaner and a lot more like a race car. I dont think it is to loud though, if you keep your RPM's low you dont really notice that much of a difference however once you crank it up...you can really tell |

Frank, This was some testing that was done comparing different upgrades on one of my friends 348's, his father owns a speed shop that builds up muscle cars for the drag strip, he has a dyno like the one used for the Seattle area dyno day. We played around and spent about a month or so on the weekends playing with and install different performance products to see what kind of power boost we could coax out of the 348. We took the base number we got at the rear wheels and normalized it back to the factories claimed 300hp. We tried a lot of different thing and got some pretty cool numbers after trying everything. The 339hp@7250RPM's is what we got from a stock 348 with a K&N, Tubi, and no cats. The car breaths much better and seems to rev a lot faster as well. With the stock two can muffler used on the early 348's and no cats with a K&N we were able to get 326hp@7250RPM's....my guess is with the single can muffler you are sitting right in between these two numbers. The muffler I think from my experience with cars is not the main bottle neck in your exhaust systems performance the cats are, every car I have taken them off has shown a very nice boost in performance compared to just slapping on a aftermarket exhaust system. These are not official number so dont quote me on them but I feel the results are very accurate because all runs were done twice to confirm the first number. |

Mensi, another one of our sponsors in specializing in Tubi exhausts and tries to be the price leader. Please give them a try... http://server.ferrarichat.com/~ferrari/ferrarichat.com/discus/sponsors/mensi.htm |

Frank & John: How did you like the exhaust sound without the cats on the 348? Also do they cause a problem with state inspections??? How do you get by this? Thanks |

Hey, i took my cats off and took them to w welding shop. For 35 bucks they cut them open and took the guts out. Big difference in power and sound. |

I was thinking of bypass on my 87TR. I talked with trutlands, people in the biz, I was told maybe a 2% increase in power, if any. Most of the increase is like John says, seat of the pants, loud, I don't want no bang for the buck. Check further like I did. There are many opinions both ways. I didn't want really loud, but would like more power(always) |

John, where did you get that 339hp figure ? I have a 348 Spider that is supposed to have 312hp stock. I have cat bypass pipes and a K&N filter with the stock one can spider exhaust. I wonder what hp figure I have ? |

Jack, I have would say if you are looking for more power and sound the best thing you can do is remove your cats. You can hear my car when I get down to Chicago to hook up with you guys to see if you like the sounds without the cats. This is the biggest step in making your exhaust freer flowing and thus making more power in the car. To me this was the best investment you can make mine cost me $500 from Koenig, because damn 348's have a special bend at the end of their cats, and I can for sure feel it big time in the seat of my pants when getting on the gas hard at 4000RPM's or above. I have a video of a 348 flying by with a Tubi on as well as a 308 with a tubi on that I will send you so you can see what they sound like. A tubi, no cats, and a K&N on a 348 will get you to 339hp. If you factor into that what a 328 makes for power my guess is you are looking at a 300-310hp car. Peter is right superperformance does make a great muffler as well however I have never heard one. Nick at http://www.nicksforzaferrari.com/forzaferrariwebsite1001.htm can get you hooked up with the right cat cut offs for your baby. |

Thank you very much. Now, one more question, more of an opinion one. Since it seems the biggest change is in the exhaust note, would you say that it enhances or takes away from the Ferrari sound (328)? |

The best performance muffler on the market at the moment for 308 is made in England and supplied by Superperformance. It's a stainless steel system that flows better than tubi/borla/ansa, sounds awesome, plus it won't send you bankrupt. |

They're usually about half the weight of stock, so they could be a good place to start if lightening the car if that's the direction you're going. They do sound a lot nicer for sure. |

They look really nice and cost lots. I dont think there is much of a benefit as far as power goes when installed on a stock engine. I would buy tubi if I had already modified the engine and needed the exhaust to compliment the rest of the package. I think the biggest change would be in the sound more than anything. I cant justify the cost for the performance gain. |

Hello, I am a relative newbie, and would like to hear a little info on the Tubi exhausts. I have heard them mentioned a lot but would like to learn a little more about them. |
