Subject: ES Bushing Update

A lot of time has passed since my last update and I am sorry. The reason:
no customer service from Energy Suspension. They have called me back once...ever since I have been dealing with them. I would imagine I have called them over 25 times. Anyway, I CALLED them again today and they told me the bushings will ship Monday, November 4, 2002. If you are asking me to bet on this, I will not. I am only the messenger and like they say, "Don't shoot the messenger".

As for the listers who want to purchase bushings for there cars and did not get a chance to purchase through this group buy, I will try and see what I can do. At this point, I just want to get the current purchasers correct bushings in their hands and this has been quite frustrating.

My advice is to purchase from one of ES's distributors and let them deal with ES or if you have another option, go with it. Again, I will try but don't "Hold Your Breath".

This is all I have for now......I will keep you posted.

Please note my email address has changed to: [email protected]

My first time on the board. You guys are doing a great job.
After doing some research on the bushings for the 308, the front and rear are the same. The only difference is the material used. The front are harder.
I woukld like to purchase some of the bushing that are in order. Can we make it happen ?? If yes at what cost.
Thank you in advance.

Subj: ES Ferrari Poly Bushing Update

After many phone calls, we have finally moved on getting the bushings back to Energy Suspension. I am sending 104 of 248 bushings back to Energy Suspension.

These will go out Monday. Energy Suspension will build us our bushings next week and ship soon thereafter.

They are charging us a 15% restocking charge. Don't worry. Nobody will be charged anything extra. Being the larger bushings cost more, we will be doing an even swap for the smaller bushings and ES will pay the shipping to me. This
will cover the restocking charge and price difference.

The problem of us getting the wrong bushings comes down to a few different things. This is my opinion............ ES list two bushings which fit "Ferrari". Notice it does not say any model. Being the parts list for 308/328/Mondial show different part numbers for bushings in front versus rear, we assumed we needed the different bushings. This was not the case.

Who was at fault? Who knows? Did we order the wrong parts or were we supplied the wrong
parts. I think a combination of both. ES does not list Ferrari Models and we may have been blinded by our parts list. Again, don't worry too much about it.

I just wanted to explain what I believe happened. If it is anything different, I apologize for my opinion and will state what ever is correct. Again, it is not a big deal as we will be getting the correct parts.

Now I need some help. ES will have 248 bushings which are not real easy to move for them. I plan on putting a note out to the list letting them know we can ship quickly 34 mm bushings right to them. We can help ES move these
parts.

My problem which I need help with is what cars use these larger bushings. My guess is the Testarossa, maybe 348/355 and possibly a few others but I do not know for sure. Before we move any of these larger bushings to list members, I want to make DEFINATELY sure they will be getting the correct parts. This is where I need your help. Anyone have a car other than 3 Series or Mondials, please take a look at your control arm bushings and see what size they are. It should be as easy as removing a wheel. I have a note into ES asking them to identify what cars these larger bushings are used on. Hopefully
they come through but if history repeats itself, I don't expect an answer.

They have yet to return a call from me. I am always calling them.

One last point, there are a few out there who are interested in purchasing bushings for there cars. Please let me know who you are ( I put you in the list) and I will try and get you some bushings.

If you have any questions concerning any of this, please email me or call me. My numbers are below.

FRONT ES BUSHINGS ARE WRONG SIZE ONES, RETURN YOURS FOR EXCHANGE

I'm a bit embarassed at being slow in posting this. I forgot that the ES group buy was offered to FerrariChat as well as Ferrari List. I hope that this hasn't caused anyone any inconvenience.

I suspect that Dan & Mark have contacted everyone directly, but just in case I'm posting Dan's original recall eMAIL, & Mark's 'assuming the torch' eMAIL below.

Note Mark's positive report on his successful installation of a full set of ES bushings, and the improvement they made in handling. He tracked them in an autocross event just before sending his eMAIL.

Apologeticly,
Verell

Subj: ES Bushigs RECALL NOTICE!!!

I know that most of you have not installed their bushings yet and believe it or not, that is good news. A fellow Lister, Mark Manzonelli, discovered that the fronts (13.3102) were a bigger size than what was on his '86 328. I verified this with my '76 308 and found it to be true as well.

I am asking all of you to check your stock bushing diameters and compare them with the smaller poly bushings (13.3101). I am particularly interested those of you with Mondials and 348's. If you do not have calipers to measure out the bushings, then you can remove the front wheel and place an ES rear bushing (13.3101) against the stock, installed one. The difference should be obvious.
Also, for the Mondial owners, I ask that you look at the outer bushings as well to compare the
sizes.

If you are in the same predicament as Mark and I, then I wask you to ship the 13.3102 bushings to me as soon as possible so I could collect them and ship them to Energy Suspension and process the return. I think if we time this just right, I will be sending you back the right bushings in two weeks, right before I go to my new job. If for some reason time gets away from me, Mark has graciously volunteered to take
the torch.

Sorry for the inconvenience fellas!

Dan

PS Please cc any replies to my yahoo email as well so I could check from work. Thanks!

Subj: Energy Suspension - Return Update

I hope everyone is well and is enjoying or have enjoyed their long weekend.

Please take a look at all the names in the "To" portion in this email.

I have sent email to the individuals names which I received from Dan Ramos and I am also sending this to the Ferrari List. If your individual name does not appear on this list and you have bushings which were purchased from Energy Suspension through Dan Ramos and the Ferrari List, please email me and I will get you on the list. The same goes if I need to remove your name. After this email, I will no longer write to
the Ferrari List.

As you may know, I have been "passed the torch" by Dan Ramos in getting all the incorrect bushings together, sending them back to Energy Suspension, getting the correct ones shipped to me, then in turn, me shipping the correct ones all to you.

Let's start from the beginning. Dan did a wonderful job of getting the Ferrari list together and making a Group Purchase from Energy Suspension. Everyone got a good price and a quality product.

Thank You Dan.

We also came across a bit of a problem.

It seems Dan and I were the first ones to start to install the bushings. We both started on the rears. The rears use Energy Suspension Part number 13.3101G. These are 30mm Bushings (the smaller of the diameters you received). They fit perfectly. After I finished the rears, I started on the fronts. After removing the front control arms, I knew right away the bushings we had left (13.3102G) were too large to fit. Being I had already finished the rear and buttoned everything up, I was not sure if the 13.3101G would fit. Verell Boen sent me his bushings to verify they would fit. I installed his (8) 13.3101G in my front control arms and they fit perfectly. I then aligned the car and autocrossed in yesterday. The transformation is phenomenal. I am sure you all will feel a pretty significant difference. Everything is solid. My old bushings were quite soft and very dry-rotted. I also noticed many of my old bushings were sagging and were worn out. The metal sleeve was "tilted" inside the bushing to what I believe was due to age and sag due to the weight of the car constantly on these bushings.

So what did we need to do? The answers are as follows:
1.. Keep Quantity 8 of Energy Suspension (ES) number 13.3101G. These are the smaller diameter of the two different kinds of bushings.
2.. Ship Quantity 8 ES part # 13.3102G. (larger diameter bushing) to:

Subj: Re: Energy Suspension Bushings

From what I understand, all who purchased are 308, 328 and Mondial owners. I can verify (so far) that all of these models use the smaller 30mm 13.3101G bushings. I am not sure what uses the 13.3102G bushings, but if I had to guess, I would believe the TR; maybe 348 and 355 but do not quote me on this.

ES shows that Ferrari uses 30mm and 34mm bushings. Noticed it says "Ferrari" and not any model numbers. It was assumed that the fronts were different than the rears because of the different part numbers. It has been said the difference in the Ferrari bushings is not the size but the durometer (hardness) of the bushings. Again I can't verify this but it has been put across the email.

If anyone has something different than 30mm bushings (13.3101G) in 308, 328 and Mondial cars, I would like to know. This way we can get everything noted. If someone has a 348, 355,TR and any other model, again, I would like to know the size of the bushings.

As for cross posting, yes, I would suggest doing so everyone who may have received the wrong set will get the correct ones.
