Dan.The egg shaped ones "tear drops" are not necessary correct for your car.All cars shipped to US with no mirrors and were dealer installed. My brother in laws 79 has the kind you are talking about and they came from Ferrari dealer "algar". While most are californian yours are not definetly incorrect. The small ones look better in my opinion but they are almost useless when driving. especially the passenger side.

I have what I think is a dealer installed square looking set of mirrors on both the left and the right side of my 79 308. I am looking to take them off and put the correct "egg shaped" one (as you called it) on the drivers side. I think that the passengers side mirror is useless and prefer the original look anyway. I would be willing to trade both of mine for an "egg shaped" one. let me know.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement decal "Californian by Vitaloni" to put on my 308 mirror?

Just an FYI on the mirror thing....
The aftermarket Californian style mirror is the same as the stock mirror except for the mounting base...
The original base, has the larger portion to the rear, the aftermarket part has the larger portion of the base to the front...
Most folks would not notice the difference, and this should not be a problem on the passenger side door.
But, if you are trying to replace your stock driver side mirror it won't work...
The holes will not match up.
My solution at this point is to use the stock mirror base with the aftermarket mirror section.

I think it californian. It's black and the mirror is egg shaped. It swings up and down. Do you have a supplier I can get one from.... Cheap.

It looks like the one on this car

I have a 78 308 with only the driver mirror. It's the oval egg shaped one. I am considering adding the passenger mirror. Does anyone know if they are easy to install? Do I need to remove the door panel? Has anyone else done this?
