Hans, if you don't have the second air-pump (which runs off the W.P. pulley), the small-bearing pump is fine. |

Buy a new housing, and an upgrade kit. For $200 you will have a new pump. Or, rebuild your old pump. If it lasts that long, maybe it can last a while longer. I still have the small pump on mine, and i am not too worried about it yet. Just rebuilt it so it should last another 15K miles. that should keep me in the black temperature wise for 3 more years. |

My car still has a small bearing pump. 27 years old, doesn't leak! However..... That day may not be far off. Question: Rebuild small bearing pump, or buy new big bearing pump? |

Rebuild it! I just did mine, and it is not a problem. A hydraulic press is handy, but a good vise will serve just as well. I got my parts from Maranello parts in Ga. 800-233-7820. Don't know if they have the "best" price but they were very knowledgeable. There are several bearing sizes and seal configurations, so pull yours apart before ordering and these guys can tell you what you need. Also check out this site for advice on the job. Carl's Techtips I live in NC, and was running cool in 98 deg weather.... |

rebuild it, if you have any mechanical aptitude at all you will be fine. A rebuild kit is 2 bearings, 2 seals, a gasket, might as well change the o-ring and the thermostat. That should be ... $100 tops. A few hours of work, refill and bleed the coolant ($20 more) and you are done. |

Buy a new one, but ONLY if you want a spare. Otherwise have yours rebuilt, for a LOT less money....It is only two bearings......this is NOT rocket science! |

The water pump on my 84 Mondial QV burned up the belt the pump pully still turns but with resistance. I think a new or rebuilt pump is needed. I am trying to make sense of all the updates to the water pump and what will work best for me. Please help I live in a southern state and need to make my cooling system as good as it can be. |
