michael -- do you mean you know that there is a problem with the meter itself or just that the speedometer needle is "dead" (or erratic?). The usual DIY strategy is:

1. check the wiring/connectors -- if still problem then,

2. replace the sender -- if still problem then,

3. send the gauge (meter) to a repair/test shop.

my speedometer on my 91 348 tb has failed 17 000km
does anyone know what most likely is the problem and what part/parts i will need ???
