Hmmm.... When I typed it in I got loads of pages, everything including your posts, plus exhaust "tips"... etc.

Peter, I just did the keyword search. It doesn't bring up "Tips" that were discussed on this chat line,or am I missing something here. MAGOO

Yeah Rob, we really appreciate what you do. I'd like to help but I am real lousy with computers. To be honest you impress the hell out of me with this site both the technical side and your unselfishness.

Magoo, the keyword search function really works, just tried it out now. I pulled up postings from way back. So if anybody's stuck, just type a word(s) and you'll get these topics (like: "Tips").

I had mentioned I printed out pages from the 308FAQ website, but this was back last summer when I first got my car and was looking for servicing info (even before finding expensivecar.com).

THANKS ROB, We all appreciate what you do for this chat line. Sometimes we,myself included, sound as if we are taking what you do for granted. But I'm sure I speak for all members that we truly appreciate your efforts. Thanks again for trying and if something becomes feasible to put together later on maybe we could do it. Thanks, WARREN "Magoo"

I apologize if people thought I was being cranky. I was a little cranky that I had to rescan half my FCA 2001 pictures after the disk drive at Kinkos went bust. However, I didn't intend for my mood to spread over to this post. I really want to give everyone everything and it's frustrating when I can't. Hopefully, after I get the new server working we can prioritize all the suggestions and I can get to work. Thanks for everyone's participation.

Also, a reminder that I don't make money on this site, I just loose it out of greed to have a place I can go talk with so many other Ferrari people. It happens to be enjoyable for other people too. Like I said a while ago, I would love for people to contribute their own content. In this case, have someone create and maintain this tips page. Other places to contribute are the reviews, trivia, and research areas.

Hey Rob, Thanks for trying. Just as Peter suggested it was easy to print and file. If a spot can be designated the guys on this site will know where to put their tips. When the tips go into archives at random and eventually get lost {and forgotten,} then valuable info. is lost also. When you get right down to it a person may not need that tip at that time but it is good to be able to go to your own printed file for reference long after the tip was entered. Thanks again, just trying to help organize tips in a place we all can read and print out to keep for future reference. MAGOO

I'm going to think about ways to handle this problem, I agree with everyone that we can do something.

My experience is just that a search engine works better than any human can sort stuff and this boards search engine is pretty good.

Also, my main technical concern right now is with moving everything to a diferent server, so none of this will be done until after I get the move done. Thanks. Keep the ideas coming.

Hey Rob, how about having a number of check boxes on the "Add a Message" or "Create New Discussion" sections that can indicate (author's responsibility) additional places where to send a copy of the Message. Hence, there could be a way to create or add postings to a discussion, but if deem necessary or helpful by the author, he could also ask a copy be saved under some tips/research section, etc.

Some of those check boxes could read:
Technical Tips, Maintenance Tips, etc.

And perhaps there could be even a second level of detail like: Technical Tips/Engine or Technical Tips/Air Conditioner, etc.

Yes, it sounds complicated, and perhaps too much work, but it's definitely something worth thinking about.

Caribe.

The difficulty that I see is a lot of topics are started for one thing and it ends up that there is a good tip in the middle of the discussion. It almost seems like they need to be organized or flagged later. (sounds like a lot of work...)

True Magoo. I did that with the 308FAQ website, I printed out the most needed info and put it into a binder which I keep with my other manuals on my bookshelf.

Ok, It just seems like valuable tips become forgotten and lost in the other comments. This way one doesn't have to hunt for what he wants. Many times I've noticed that someone will ask about a tip that has been entered before and we send them looking because we have forgotten where it is. Just thought it would be better if we could keep the tips together for printing and be able to create individual files if it's possible. Thanks, MAGOO

Well, I could add them into a HTML page and put it under research.

My personal preference is people just search for what they need tips on. I've found this works the best, but I'm open to any ideas like this one. Let's see what kind of other input we have on this idea.

Thanks.

Hey ROB, is there any way we could get one page for "TIPS" only so that when tips are entered they will all be in one place rather than here and there. That way, when they go into the archives we could print them out and each person could start his or her own file. Just a thought. MAGOO
