Brian: I just got the gaskets today, from the Ferrari dealer.....he also sent me a can of VHT "Wrinkle Plus" coating (SP-204 RED). This is what they use on Ferraris. While powder coating is great, I feel that, what worked for Enzo, is good enough for me. Besides, this is the first time the valve cover will be painted, 14 years and 64,000 miles......how can I go wrong? The other valve cover still looks fairly good. Thanks. |

You can get VHT brand red wrinkle paint, but for a more durable finish you can mask off pertinent areas and have the part powder coated. They now have the wrinkle finish available. |

Henry, I believe they call it "wrinkle" finish. I got a can of black for my 308 valve covers from Eastwood and they turn out good. For your "testarossa" you will have to get red wrinkle paint. with my experience, paint it and bake it in the oven and it will be much more durable. However, the finish is not satin smooth. If you want a more sparkling finish, air dry it in the sun. Funny how the same paint from the same airesol can could have different finish like that. |

I am in the process of replacing the left valve cover gaskets, due to a leak, on my 88TR. The original red paint is peeling badly, and just coming off. Does anyone know the paint code to use for the original red color? Is this a "crackle" finish?
