I know we always have this debate but three years sounds quick between timing belts. If everything else is ok then I would wait (though I can't pay the bill for you if they go sooner :-)

I also assume cam seals etc etc will be looked at as well as the plugs and air filter will be done

Be sure you have the cooling system power flushed and then put in fresh coolant.

Chris,
Thanks for your suggestion, I will give it a try this weekend.
I am planning to have the timing belt replaced as it has been 3 years since the last replacement. What other service would you say I should have it done since the engine is already removed (at 38K km)? The dealer recommand lube /oil / filter with the brake / transmition fluid ..comments?
My 348 is exactly the same as yours with KK number plates, I suppose we are in the same region, do you get your service done at authorized dealer locally ? Appreciate on any alternatives available as I find the price a bit inhibitive...may be I dont service the car often.

Spray a silicone lubricant on it, let it sit and soak in. I did and it took off the white nasty water marks. While you're at it spray also along the engine compartment alog the top rails and doorsills to prevent rust buildup. Definitely do not need to be repaint.

Appreicate if someone could help me on removing the spots or discoloration on the black valence over the rear brake light of my 348. Is it water spots baked into the paint? Can it be removed ?
If I was going to repaint, what kind of paint should I use ? thanks
