Most any auto supply business can get the clutches. There are different types of clutches depending on the type of belt you are running. They have pictures of the clutches so you can decide.

I replaced the hoses, drier, all o-rings. I only used the top bracket from the Aspera. I purchased a York to Sanden conversion kit to mount to the Aspera's top bracket. The fuel tank has to be removed to get the hoses out. The worst part of removing the fuel is draining all of the gas and getting it all out of the tank. Once that is done it comes out fairly easy. I had barrier hoses made for my 308. They were around $200 for all of the hoses and all new fittings. I also had service ports installed.

Greg, did you have to do any modifications to fit the Sanden compressor?
I too have a 78 (GTS)

Also, what else should I replace along with the compressor? (besides the planned replacement of the hoses)

There are many other threads that have discussed this but I will add some info. The stock York style Aspera is a major power robber. It always has been. You can go the rotary Sanden conversion. I did on my 78' and it works great. The power loss is minimal. I still have the Aspera on my QV and it robs lots of power so I don't use it most of the time. I will convert to the Sanden on my QV also when I get the time. It is a Sanden SD-508. It requires a shorter belt, new a/c hoses and the conversion hardware. If you haven't changed your t-belts now is a good time if they are due. Change the drier with the conversion. You may want to change the expansion valve but it isn't a must. Hope this helps.

I know there's been a lot of disscusion on this issue but I'm still not quite sure which way to go.

My low side AC hose blew off of the compressor last night while driving with AC off. It came off of the crimped fitting. When I've used the AC in the past couple of months, the belt squeels so bad that I've turned it off.

I think the compressor and/or clutch or something else in the system is bad. Even when it was working OK (it was getting somewhat cold), I could feel a considerable loss of power when I turned it on.

I want to replace the compressor and clutch.
My question is what should I replace it and/or any other parts associated with the AC with? What kind should I get?

Do they still make a rotary type of compressor?
I thought that a rotary compressor would be the ticket because of the low drag on the engine.

Is there a compressor that has little impact on engine performance?

The compressor on the car now is what was on it when I bought the car. Don't know what type it is.

I have the ability to modify the brackets if need be to get a different one to fit.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
