Matt

The replacement for the filler hose is 2 1/4 inch for my car, available at Napa for $11 a foot, made by Goodyear for gasoline. A great fit. Do not forget the bottom two small hoses connecting the two gas tanks. Good year makes those too, and Napa has them cheap.

steve, I pulled Saiag labeled #7L off my 78 308...took a caliper to them (after cutting off the stretch ends) and they measured the 7mm id & 14mm od...I also have some fuel line off of a QV- Saiag labeled B10/1gb/fa..measured up the same. I have heard of using the 8mm and was told by someone that it helps prevent fuel starvation at the high end. I've been running a non-braided german made 7mm hose on my car and have not experienced any starvation...been trying to get some of the Saiag hose for originality but it has been an up hill battle since they were recently purchased by Parker. In my opinion you have to watch the wall thickness on replacement hoses and check the temperature specs...Wurth carries a ton of the braided hoses but I could not find a match...closest was a 7mm by 12mm...too thin a wall in my opinion. Gates does have one that appears to be exact (not available over the autoparts counter)that I had a hose distributor match to the Saiag and also a match for the oil vapor hose (aprox 1" id).

Thanks guys. I am headed to Pep Boys tomorrow. I'll pull on the inner wheel cover to double check. I am pretty sure I had them replaced then I replaced the cross transfer fuel line.

Paul -- Can you give more comments about the 7mm size? Not that I know any different, but IIRC I used 8mm Gates and I don't remember it seeming too large for the fittings (but maybe I just never realized it should have been a b*itch to put on:-)) -- just curious, so looking for comments...

Matt -- There's also a bunch of non-wetted gas lines on '78 US V8s (mostly on the RH side of the engine bay and under the RH side C-pillar) associated with the fuel evaporation control system. If you don't know if these have or haven't been refreshed in the last 1/4 century it might be worth a look the next time you or your mechanic has the right-rear wheel liner out -- just a thought...

Don't forget the fuel filler hose too. They are notorious for failing. Heck the newest 308 carb car is 23 years old now. My fuel filler hose was caught just in time, all cracked and ready to go. I had all of them replaced...

I replace mine with fuel hoses from Pepboys. That works.

matt, any 7mm id fuel hose will work...the factory Saiag hose isn't available any more (they were bought out by Parker) you could try piecing it in by part # from the dealer but that would be a fortune and I am guessing if available, it has been sitting on the shelf for a long time...the specs on the Saiag fuel hose was 7mm id, 14mm od cloth covered.

Does anyone know the replacement hose part numbers for the hoses that are next to the driverside rear wheel. I have a small weep and would like to replace all the hoses before I have a Car-B-Q but I am unable to locate the part numbers. I believe that they are the onces connected to the fuel filter on the bottom of the car under the fuel filler door and before the wheel. They are a series of three or four small hoses.
