Wow, this one was solved fast. Stacy is the winner! Whenever one services/replaces the points, the fuzzy wad should be re-oiled. It provides a lubrication for the points to ride on the cam. When I first pulled these out, they were dry as a bone... If you install Crane (or other types of electronic ignition), you do not need these and in fact, are in the way of the new parts. |

The "thingy" you refer to clips the window glass to the regulator, I believe. David |

part of the distributor. It lubes the lobes of the cam.
