Hi Cliff. Funny you should ask. I just registered my 83 Mondial in CT. a few weeks ago, which is a Euro model. From my short experience the fact that i bought from an owner who previously had it registered in another state made all the diffrence. I simply went to DMV an showed them the title from PO an it was like any other car. If you have bought from out of state they will give you a temp. plate to go to emissions an the good news whether you pass are fail just going allows you to come back to DMV for a permanant plate! In fact my car is in getting tweaked as we speak as i failed on the HO part {no surprise}. Cliff when you go for emissions they will look with mirror's underneath as they do for all cars for cats. I would recommend you visit an inspection station with high turnover like Stratford where i went. They looked into mirror an saw my car's underside i doubt they see enough cars to know the diffrence especially since these are mid engined. I should add i went with my EPA and DOT paperwork but did not offer them as that would just be a red flag. If your car was not previously registered in USA you will need to go through a grey market test i doubt they make exemption's. Good luck an let me know how you make out.

I just purcased a 1984 512BBi to be registered in
CT. Is anyone aware of emission exemptions in CT? I have original EPA and Dot papers. Also, has anyone had experience with aftermarket exhausts for this car, particularly as they affect performance and emission testing? Thanks
