Peter -- I was running 2-3 mm toe-in on my ex-'78 (w/QV wheels). The reason I wanted to go to -2 deg camber at the front was that even at -1.5 deg camber I was still getting a little more wear on the outside edges of the tires than on the inside. PS I found the most even rear tire wear at about -1 deg camber. |

Wow, some serious work here Steve. Thank you very much for your information and links. I will talk to Christos at my garage on Monday. How much toe-in do you have at the front when you are running with -1.5 deg camber and what happend to the tire wear? Thanks again Peter |

Hi Peter easy is a relative term, but I think you have three options to lower the front coachwork as described in this earlier thread: http://www.yourlog.com/discus/messages/21/928.html? A group of FerrariListers are in the middle of having the modified lower spring perches made -- see http://www.happyisgood.com/perch for a discussion. Also, Ive noticed that theres a (seemingly constant) ad on eBay for a complete 308/328 kit: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=592236144&r=0&t=0 Maybe, the seller can be a resource for you if you only want ride-height adjustable front (non-Koni) shocks. With regard to front camber, I ran about 1.5 deg and would like to have gone to 2 deg (but 1.5 deg was the max possible negative camber without making longer threaded studs on the A-arm mounts). And finally I think the spacer you see is the rubber insulator between the spring and the lower perch probably best left in place. Good luck with the project. |

Hi all. Next week I will put new tires on my 328 GTB 88 euro, probably Yokohama AVS Sport 225/50-16 and 245/45-16. Recommended width is 7 and 8 respectively so I think it will be OK. I would also like to lower the front 1 1.5 cm (1/2) to gain high speed stability (someone said to me), anyway, the car seams to lean backwards a bit. Does anyone have any suggestion on how to do that in an easy way? There is a spacer under the spring. Can it be removed? I will also redo the suspension set up. Primarily, I want to gain cornering performance without loosing too much breaking performance and stability. A little more oversteer is OK. I have Pirelli P700 at the front and P7000 at the rear for the moment, maybe that is why the car understeer a bit. I will use the car on smooth roads, occasionally on track and I do accept a slightly higher tire wear. Standard setting is: Front Camber: -0°35 - -0°55 Toe in: 2 - 3 mm Caster: 5°30 - 6°10 Rear Camber: -1°50 - -2°10 Toe: 3 - 4 mm I suppose there are a few roadholding gurus here. I would be very grateful if any of you could comment this and perhaps suggest another set up. Mille gracie Peter |
