Matt, You may as well do it right. If your rubber seal is starting to get a memory in it or shrinkage, order a new one from G.T. Car Parts. Around $100 bucks a year ago. Exactly and identical to the old one on your 308. G.T. Car Parts Ph. 623-780-2200. Ask for Bill or Dave. |

BTW, one temp fix that was attempted on my car some years back(the body shop found this) was to remove the existing rubber seal, and bend the metal support outward with a pair of vicegrips(!). This way the rubber seal fits tighter. I would just dust off the pocket book and buy a new seal. |

Matt, Ferrari had a factory update for this problem. Your car is obviously a 78, I had the same problem, ordered the updated parts from T.Rutlands (around $450 I think, labor another $500) and had them installed at a body shop. The mod requires the installation of a new rail that moves the seal out about 2cm and it also requires some grinding and repainting of the targa top at the forward surface where it seals. Now it will no longer seal at the top edge, but underneath. Compare your car to a 79 or later GTS. Personally, it did fix the leaking at the forward seal, and much improved the seal at the corners where the a-pillar meets. But, if I were to do it all over again, I would just get more of the standard replacement seals and not do the modification. It is in the Ferrari Technical Service Bulletin book if you have access to one, or perhaps someone can post it. |

O.k. My seal is in ggod shape but, there is a slight air gap where the notch in the side window is. Is there a way to inject foam or another substance to inflate the rubber? Like a boob job for the f-car. $400 for a new rubber (no pun) seems like a lot of cash for what seems like a small fix.
