Ken, Check for a cam seal that may have popped out behind the timing belt. Also check cam cover oil return hoses. Loose oil filter, loose hose fitting, stripped oil tank drain plug (very common). It could be many things. Specifically, from what part of the car is it leaking? |

did the mechanic replace the cam seals? If not, that could be the source of the leak. Also at the bottom of the cam covers towards the front of the engine there are oil drains. They are bolted to the rocker covers with a gasket in between and from there a rubber pipe is attached. Check to see if the gasket or the rubber pipe has started to seep through.(just from age) I've seen alot of these with this problem. |

The valve covers would be my first guess. If there was ANY oil residue upon the sealing areas when the seal was made, that would quickly "unseal" the area and cause it to leak. First thing is to get under and try to figure out where the leak is coming from. I have one of those (mythical) Ferraris that doesn't leak a drop (knock on wood) of fluids. -Ben

A friend of mine has a 1987 TR which has a fairly large oil leak. The car just had a 30K mile service, but it appears that the mechanic may have done something wrong. Are there any known sources of oil leaks in the earlier TR's? TIA. |
