Also Jim, There is a black latex caulking,in a tube that loads in a caulk gun, drys flatter finish than other oil caulks, available at any hardware store. Latex is the key because it is water soluble and won't hurt the paint. However, I like the black windshield caulk strips better for 2 reasons. If you are going to use it around the windshield it matches the existing caulk and it blends better. It is also easier to control.

Jim, Go to your auto paint store or auto window glass shop and get the windshield ,body caulk in a package of individual black strips. When you apply it use a small amount of WD 40 on your fingertips and you can control the application to go on smoothly. Also when you want to trim it closer in a straight line use WD 40 on a soft cloth on your finger. WD 40 will not hurt the paint.
