I would like to thank Brian and David for your quick reply to my post.
The problem was the connector pins where 4 wires came totally separated. After some intensive soldering, the electric are back to working conditions.
cheers,

I had a similar problem with my 328, I removed the driver's side switches for both windows, and found that one of the plugs that fits into the swtich (forget which one) had a wire that was cut through, and making intermittent contact. I made a splice and fixed it, no more problems.

Sympton #2 is telling me that the problems lies with the driver's door somewhere. Check the connection in the door hinge first as suggested, then check the switch connections.

The problem is often found in the connector pins in the big connector by the door hinges. Pull back the rubber boot and gently tug each wire, unscrew the knurled nut and check each pin inside for corrosion. Probably in the drivers side, but check both.

Having problems with pax electric window as follows:
1. when the car is cold, both electric windows are OK up and down using both driver electrical switches and pax electrical switch.
2. when the driver door is opened, pax electric window does not operate up or down until the driver door is closed again.
3. when the car is warming up or driven hot, driver door electrical switch cannot operate pax electrical window up or down. Yet pax electrical switch can only operate electric window down only, but not up.
4. driver window still operates OK up and down at all times.
5. the problem corrects itself when the car cools off, both electric windows operates OK up and down.
6. this problem does not exist sometimes, even when the car is running warm or hot.

need help, otherwise off to the f-mechenic it goes.
thanks
