Are there any secrets for removing the inner CV joint attach bolts. I have 5 of the 6 removed, the last is a real pain. What are the torque values and should the bolts and locking nuts be replaced every time removed? |

Dirk, it must have been seized on or something..once that clip is removed it should have just slid off with minimal effort. Well..as you expected the inners were a pain...but you got them off! Great! regards,Paul |

Paul, i wanted to go Your way, but the outer hub doesnt come off. ( circlip removed ). So i have get out the whole axle. Its a real pain to get out these inner bolts. There was no way, powerscrewer etc, at last i have drilled them out. After 5 hours i have the axle out and i removed the other hub. But the axle looks a little worn and so i had sent it to GKN-Lobro. 4 days later they sent me an overhauled transaxle with a lifetime warranty and it looks like new. Costs me 450 Euros, I think thats much more cheaper than a new Ferrari part. Dirk

I am sure by now that we know it takes balls to do that repair. |

dirk, there is a cheater way (so you don't have to take the whole axel off the car..plus those inside axle allen head bolts are a to get off)..just remove the allen head bolts attached to the hub/bearing carrier side...remove the clip (and watching your balls) slide the cv off...and boot...then slide off the inside boot...regreese everything and reassemble... |

You must first remove the axle shafts. This is straight forward by removing the allen head bolts and nuts. Be sure to notice that the left inner axle joint has flat washers under the heads of the bolts and must be returned to that position. After removing the axles, the jounts can then be removed by removing the clip on the end of the shafts. Be sure to grasp firmly to your balls and do not drop them when sliding off the shaft. Clean everything up and regrease your balls and housing and reassemble everything. |
