The paint. This is a urethane base coat clear coat. This means you first spray the color, then you spray a clear over the top. As you can see from the bottom photo the base coat is very dull. To tell you the truth the base coat is not going to make any difference if its PPG,Dupont,Sikkens, ect. Where the difference is in the clear. I used the Dupont 72200 clear. I think it looks alot better then the other products. However a Gal kit costs around 375$ or so. I think its well worth the price. The base coat I used nasson paint, its made by dupont, just a little bit cheaper in cost. I bought two gals so I have an extra gal left over, then i can fix any damage later and not worry about paint color matching. The color its self is a (Ford E3) color code. My 240z has a 351 ford windsor motor not a 350 chevy. It handles good as long as you dont give it full throttle from a dead stop, because the front tires will come off the ground. I made it before I bought my ferrari, because I wanted the fastest street car. At 595 horsepower and 2400pounds(with me in it) it can out run most motorcycles. |

Ben, I have just contracted with a local body shop to have my '77 308GTB completely repainted (it has the original lacquer crazing). What brand of paint is this? Beautiful job! Do you have the paint code number handy as well? I am requesting Sikkens be used on mine, to which the painter has agreed..thanks in advance....... |

Ben, Nice to see somebody do such a nice job. I have done a few of my collector cars and enjoyed every minute of it. |

I also had a '72 240Z back when I worked at FAR Performance; stock block w/ 280Z crank/rods, 260 head, 510 flat dome pistons, Tilton aluminum flywheel and harmonic balancer, Delong cam, comp suspension - still my favorite car - wish I still had it.....also thinking of re-painting my 308 |

I am a habitual do-it-your-selfer. I also used to have an early 1970 240 Z car with Jim Cook Rear Flares and 200+ hp & Center Lines. Tell me about your Z. Why would you want to put a 350 in one? How does it handle with the new rear end? (Does your ferrari have the origional engine?) Oh, and nice paint job. I hope to do one like that soon. |
