Henry, The Koni's I put on the back of my 308 are their model 8211 racing shocks. They were custom made for me and were pricey, about $1300 for the pair of assemblies. They are however well made and provide ride height adjustment and independant external adjustment of compression and reboud damping over a wide range and accomodate the full OEM suspension travel. They use 14-inch Eibach springs of 2.5 inch id, which are available in a good range of spring rates. I selected the 200 lb/inch rate. They were also able to incorporate the OEM upper bushings because I wanted extra compliancy for the northeast roads I drive on. The other thing I added were rubber bellows to protect the shock shaft from dust and corrosion. These were TRW brand steering rack boots. |

you can get custom shocks that take 2.5"Id springs fron Ohlins, penske, bilstein, carrera that can set your car at any height or stiffness. The last bilstein and carrera start around $200 each, the others around $350. Personally, I think good shocks are well worth the money and the best place for the stock konis is the trash. It depends how you drive I guess. I the Nick also has a shock/spring package. |

Thanks for the info guys. I was not aware that Koni had a racing shock that would bolt up. I've contacted Koni and all they say is that they have the OEM replacement. I have also contacted Truechoice and they are talking about a custom modification that is around $400 per corner (a litle rich for me) |

Try Theiler Automobil Technik in La Habra, Ca. They used to advertise alot in the Ferrari Club news bulletin. They had complete suspension kits for 308's. I took a test drive in a 308 that had the whole suspension done with their kit and it was great--I believe that it lowered the car by at least one inch--looked bitchin'. Their # was (562) 697-9958: fax (562) 697-4259. |

You might want to try Koni North America or TrueChoice. I replaced the rear shocks on my car with a set of Koni racing shocks, which use Eibach springs, with adjustable lower spring purches. I believe they can provide adjustable spring purchases for both the front and rear OEM springs. |

My 308 has been lowered about 1" by cutting and balancing the springs, done by the previous owner. I cannot slide my hand between the front tire and wheel well (225x50x16" tires). I have not had a problem with the tired rubbing. I have had frequent problems of bottoming the suspension or hitting the underbody/front spoiler on the ground. Also having the deep euro front spoiler I do at times rub quick changes in the road surface. I do think handling is improved some from lowering. I cannot say how much because the other 308s I have driven were GTSs, had 14" or metric tires, and my car also has larger sway bars. I am planning in the future to install some adjustable threaded lower spring mounts (not the lowering perches that you discussed). I got these from the previous owner who got them from someone who raced a 308. I do not know of a source for them. I will probably raise the car slightly more than it currently is, plus the addition of heavier springs I hope will reduce the bottoming of the suspension. |

Has anyone here lowered the ride height on their 308? I know of the lower perches that were made up a couple of years ago, but has anyone done anything different? |
