Thanks guys. In fact, I did find that 4mm allen bolt the night I posted the message. Now I can take off the mirror completely to repaint the cylinder portion. Almost every car Ive seen has had this paint chipped and/or flaked off.

I was a little skeptical aboutthe oil filter magnet, but if it cant hurt...

Leonardo, I remember when JC Whitney sold those years ago. Even had one on the drain plug. They ca'nt hurt but I do'nt think they do that much good either.

If you look carefully at the base of the mirrors, you will notice a small plastic cover that you can remove. With an allen wrench you can tighten the mirrors...I hope this helps.

Two things I could use some help with:

1. Anyone know if there are any adverse effects in using those small magnets on oil filters to trap small metal particles?

2. How do you tighten up the side view mirrors? Mine move out of alignment everytime I drive the car because of the vibrations. Is there a tensioning screw/bolt under the mirror caps?

Thanks.
