Matt, Just watch the oil spillage when you change the oil filter. Also make sure the rubber gasket under the inspection plate is good and won't let oil seep onto the clutch and flywheel. |

Thanks Paul. No slips at all. I always shift in odd patterns at low speeds. |

The skip a few gears during an upshift test will make a beat clutch slip. You may want to try it at a little higher speed so you sort of load it without making it fall flat on its face. The only way I can see my disc thickness is through the timing slot where the small cover is bolted onto the bellhousing. It wont tell you much becasue you cant see the rivets that hold the lining onto the fingers, so you dont really know how close to worn out it is. I would look to see if the dust grooves are still present at the edges of the lining material. If it doesnt slip or shudder during engagement, I would just drive it and be aware of any changes in the way it feels or how high it engages. |

IS there a way to examine the clutch plate from the outside, like brake pads? Ferrari said to put the car in 5th and hit the throttle when the car is at 30 mph. If it slips, you need a new one. I did that. No slipping but I did piss off the car. She shuttered like a 500 lb woman at a closed all-you-can-eat buffet. I'd like to see the plate myself if possible. |
