By the way, for those folks wanting this Whale Oil, it is available over the counter from most GM parts depts.
for around 7 or 8 bucks a bottle, which contains 4 OZ.
I believe it is part #1052358
For what it's worth, I have used this friction modifier over the years in modified Ford 9 inch, and Dana 60 rear ends in race cars with out a problem, and it was the big secret years ago with the 365 Daytona race crowd.

The positraction clutches chattered in turns after the gearbox oil was changed to Mobil 1. It may not happen to all cars but it did to mine.

I can'nt say enough about Mobil 1, they use to sponsor my drag boat. I use their oil and gear lube in everything I own. I had problems with the shifting and chatter in my 308 gearcase, after the change it was instant fix. Smoother shifts with no noise. I have not added to my crankcase since I have some oil leaks. This is perhaps the only fault of Mobil 1. If you have any leaks in gaskets this stuff will pour out hot or cold.

I had always used amsoil in my car but had planned to switch to Mobil 1 when it all goes back together, should make it interesting now. I'm still gonna try it so we'll see how it goes in the QV.

I put the Mobil 1 gear oil in my 308 and it raised hell. I added two bottles of the GM stuff and it cured it completely.

Is that what that LSD-6 was for? I kept eating it on sugar cubes with no effect. Ha!

As long as you use limited slip compatible gear oil (most synthetics are, mobil one, redline, amsoil, are some examples) then there is no need or gain from putting in the GM additives (I think it's called LSD-6). For the Ferrari you really don't want to be using anything that would require additives since it will effect everything, not necessarily that it would be bad, but more that there is no sense in using them instead of just using a limited slip compatible oil.
On my jeep for instance though I add the limitied slip additives when I change the diff oil (far and few between that I do that, lol) the diff runs what jeep calls the trulock, essentially a full locker when working right. With over 250K miles on it the old boy is somewhat worn and prone to chattering, which the additives remedy quite well.

John, I have used in in all my Ferraris and have been pleased. It really makes for easier shifting. I first learned about it from Terry Girome when he was the service manager at FAF.

I use synthetic gear oil in the 328. Some have told me to also include two ounces some stuff made by GM as a differential additive. Supposidly, this was done at Ferrari of Atlanta as well. Hints? Recomendations? What is it?
