Damn west coasters get everything. Over here on in NJ you can do a good 55 when traffic breaks up enough. There are very few "fast" roads that aren't swarmed by cops. |

Dina, Up here in Hollister, CA we do 145 mph on these country roads constantly. Come up and try it out. Dan |

Hi Guys ! I have ben working nights at Uni and haven't had a chance to even .... let alone get on to FerrariChat ! Well the "Dyno Dina" did not happen. This was supposed to be a favour from one of Dom's friends and they got too busy with 'real' race cars last weekend.I have been assured they will let me or Dom know when they have free Dyno time again. Should be in the next couple of weeks. I will keep you all posted. Regards from a busy "Dyno Dina". |

Dina, Come East, how about a little reverse cannonball run? August at LimeRock might be a nice time, we might encourage Bill to help arrange a FerrariCaht get-together in CT. BTW I have the original 308 QV workshop manual and it only covers engine and mechanicals and it does seem that sections are "missing" but they say that is how it was originally. |

Dina, Where are you? Here it is Sunday night and no posts of the DYNO tests. Are you still on that DYNO and can't get stopped to get off? |

From what I read about it, what is "reasonable and prudent" to you in your Ferrari might not be the same for the trooper that pulls you over. I guess they make the law vague enough so that they can enforce it on an individual basis. It may not stand up in court but as a drive thru visitor, who has time to test it? |

I remeber hearing somewhere that the speed limit on some roads in montana is "reasonable and prudent" during the day and 55 at night. SO i guess you could get a ticket, but i doubt there would be any speed traps on roads in the middle of nowhere that dont have alot of cars. |

From what I know they still have the pollution fines but no speeding tickets on the roads that are unpopulated. That's how it was when I went out there a couple years ago with my family. |

Didn't they get rid of the "autobahn" in Montana? |

I guess the best way to get a top speed is to drive up to Montana and let her go ! Or better still, visit all you guys over on the East Coast who have been so helpful on FerrariChat. |

I am not sure if it is worthwhile doing a top speed test as the actual top speed will be a lot lower becuase of factors such as drag etc. That is why U can get 200MPH on a 456 where in actual driving, it does not come close. |

Thanks for your reassurance guys.Even Dom said we are talking Ferrari here which are made to rev hard.My car has close to 90k. I'll be ready to go tommorrow afternoon, should be a real buzz. Can't let my 308 go past 100 mph due to traffic & highway patrol concerns. It will be interesting to see what the top speed is on the Chassis-Dyno. Dom is more concerned about torque/performance figures on rebuilt webers with 34mm chokes he installed. I'll post the results. |

I did mine twice in a week a couple of months ago. I was the driver. Kind of scary reving your car to 6500+ rpm in 4th gear while you are five feet off the ground. It's re-assuring to know that the car puts down spec numbers with perfect curves even after 78k and 17 years. |

Our local FCA chapter had a "dyno day" in Seattle and I think about nine cars were run on the dyno. No problems. Each of the owners actually ran their cars on the chassis dynometer. They ran right to "redline" in either third or fourth gear (can't remember)to get the peak hp figure. Everyone also did a "top speed" run flat out in the highest gear. The 456GT and modified 512TR both exceeded an indicated 200 mph! |

My '78GTB is going to be tested on a Dynometer this weekend. I have heard horror stories of engines being over-revved / destroyed.Any one else had their Ferrari tested ? My special Alfa friend Dom has become so obsessed with my GTB and the weber carb and ignition settup he wants do before and after comparisons on modifications he intends to do. A truly converted Alfa fanatic ! |
