I have both a twin-post asymmetric lift and a four post lift. The twin post required significant concrete work in the vicinity of the posts to achieve peace of mind. Instead of using the bolts and floor anchors supplied with the twin-post, I placed studs in a new, thick pad of concrete that replaced a small portion of the floor in the vicinity of the posts. The four post was obtained for vehicle storage and for the 328. Shallow clearance of the arms on the twin-post with the 328 prevents the use of the small pads to distribute the load. To avoid imprinting the underbody of the 328, I use the four post. There is a bottle jack support that slides between the ramps that enables lifting of the front or rear of the vehicle. The four post can be moved on casters, and its installation required a few hours. Both lifts were priced at about $2500-$3000. The floor modifications for the twin post significantly increased its cost. |

On my Eagle 4 post, the jack brackets are heavey steel trays that slide along the inner ledge of the track. They span from one track to the other. I use them in conjunction with bottle jacks and jack stands. The only thing I didn't like about my lift is that I banged my head on it a few times until getting used to it. Buckled my knees once. |

Eagle 4 post is the way to go. Get it with the wheel option and both jack trays. Works great for storage and working under the car. You can also buy the 5 foot jack stands that are adjustable . Got lots of flexibility here. It took me 2 hours by myself to assemble it and I work under it and park the Jag under it. You'll be happy with it. |

I have seen that many of the 4 post units have an option for jack brackets. How do these work? Do you put jack stands on these, or jacks on these and then raise the car off of the ramps to work on wheels and brakes? |

What considerations are there between the 4 post and the 2post? I'm interested in additional storage as much as under car service. Aren't the 2 posts, with the car's suspension unloaded primarily for under car service? Is it unwise to store a car for long periods, with the suspension extending against itself? With a 4 post, if you do want to work on brakes, tires or suspension, can you use jackstands under the frame while the car's on the lift? I've noticed most of the 4post pictures do not show people under the car? Are they not as safe to work under? Thanks for any advice. Mark McKenzie

I have been using this one with good results. The ramps are low profile enough to clear the non-existant front and exhaust ground clearance on my Daytona. About $3000 delivered. http://www.bendpak.com/DB-Interfaces/ProductChild/_reports/displayitem.asp?CategoryID=1&SubCategoryID=9&ProductID=61 |

I've had this lift for two years. I like how big the leg footprint is plus all the cables are enclosed. http://www.liftsunlimited.com/ Their service needs help but their product is good. |

My rotary 2 post lift was about $3200 installed. I did the electrical hook up but the dealer said an extension cord would also work. I need to use 2x8s to be able to get the arms under the car. No Problem. |

I have had an Eagle lift (the four legged one) and I store one of my cars on top, and the second one at the bottom. I have had it for at least ten years...it works great. I highly recommend it. Cost around 3500. Required some assembly.. a lot of assembly actually. |

I guess it is 4"... http://www.gesforless.com/DB-Interfaces/ProductChild/_reports/displayitem.asp?CategoryID=1&SubCategoryID=14&ProductID=204 It says max pad height, do you know if it can be screwed lower? The lifts we have at school you cna screw the pads even lower than the arms. |

The one I'm getting I think is 3.5". I don't think you can get much lower anywhere else. If problems, I'll use a one inch board. The Ferrari won't be on there much anyway. |

Rob, I looked at the lift you are buying. Nice. Are you sure a 4" lift arm will clear the bottom of a 328? Must be close. |

I suggest that you contact a local dealer for suggestions. I had a Rotary 2 post lift installed for less than the web price and the cost of picking it up from the shipping company. Most of them include shipping but not delivery from the depot to your garage. The setup took about 2-3 hours with their equipment and it was done correctly. It would have taken me at least a day to do the installation by following the instructions that camae with the lift. This is one time that "Do it yourself" probably does not pay. |

I have seen the one Todd put in his garage which is real nice, and was thinking about putting one in. Who makes nice ones. I want to use it for light service but mainly for storage. Any web links? |
