3m makes a spray glue that is perfect. It comes out like silly string and you spray the carept back and the surface. You can then stick it down and still make minute adjustments so the seams meet. I did my Europa interior with this stuff - 39 mostly small, precut pieces, and it worked like a charm. Everything is very neat and looks professional. Seams are seamless! The only caveat is wear gloves. You WILL spray your hand at some point and it's a real pain to wash off. |

Neil--re: the carpeting, you could use double-sided carpet tape placed stategically and then only- sparingly use regular auto carpeting glue for spots which may be more prone to lift. I've done this with other cars and have been able to lift the carpeting up without any significant damage / problem. I can't help you with the tail-light Q. Best of luck. |

Am in the process of tearing down my 1977 308GTB in preparation for a complete repaint. To gain access to the rear tail lights, etc the carpet had to be pulled. There is a material the factory used to "tack" the carpeting so it would stay in place, yet one would be able to pull the carpet away without damage. Does anyone know what I could use for this purpose? Also, the rear lenses had a water-resistent caulking (gray in color) around the mounting orifices - what could be purchased to suit this purpose? Thanks in advance. |
