It's a Ferrari not a Ford. I had my whole interior replaced for $1900.00 in leather. Seats, doors and console.

Does the word Naugyhyde ring a bell? I don't think it is anything new. Maybe the name. Good product though.

Ben I wasn't saying you were cheap! I'm redoing my interior right now also. The previous owner put in a brand new leather dash, door panels, seats both front and rear (308 GT4) and partial trim, all in leather. The problem is that originally it was all vinyl. I've since ripped it all out, even though it is brand new to put it back to original, but not the seats! There is something about sitting on a dead cow that vinyl just doesn't do to you.

Ben, I am sure that guy has a good product but as far as his bad points about leather there is a long history of leather being used in the finest cars in the world to say that leather is wrong. I'm sure he wants to sell the product. It just depends if you care for vinyl over the orig. leather seats in a Ferrari. If you do "Go for it'" It's your car and your money.

Ben, I know what you are talking about...I had my upholstery guy use it when I used to own my Limo service. I had the seats redone in it...it was called Mellonhyde, that is the trade name of this stuff..looks just like leather, feels soft like leather but wears forever...they had a spray you could get for the leather scent also..as far as my Ferrari goes, I am having him do my seats in the real thing...nothing but leather. After all I think of kit cars when I see vinyl in a Ferrari....

Well, Im not being cheap. But this guys says the sun is going to kill leather. Not to mention if you wear shorts the sweat will eat into the leather after time. This is a car I want to have fun in. He claims this new material not only will look and feel like leather but you dont have to treat it, or worry about sun, stains, food, ect, ect simply wash it with soap and water if it gets dirty. The total price including Seats,Door panels(includes opening them up to fit 6.5"speakers and new carpet) , and Center counsil was $800.00 with tax.

Here is a sample this is with heavy texture which I like, but there are many choices to pick

I've had 2 sets of seats done in other ( non-Ferrari) cars in the past with a high grade of naugahide and it was practically indistinguishable from leather--some of it even has a grain to it. The interior guy who did it for me thought is was superior to leather in many ways and , if i recall, it was exactly half the price. It doesn't fade, doesn't need to be fed, and is very easy to repair in case of rips. However, I prefer leather!

Ben what was the name or trade name of this stuff? I kind of like the idea of it on an open car...I wonder if he could do a partial leather like they do on some P-cars and Jags...this way you could still get some leather smell...maybe the seat backs, head rests and the higher wear areas like the side panels in this pleather stuff and the centers in real leather.

Just wanted to see what you guys thought about re-doing the interior with a fake leather. I have a friend who does upholstory. He has just received a new product that sounds quite nice. Its a fake leather. This new product is not supposed to fade or crack. Resistant to acids, sun, sweat, food, stains, ect. It was designed to be used in new boats. At first I said no way!!! I want real leather. But after seeing it, i couldnt believe it was fake. It was so real, and so soft. He claimed using real leather you need to be careful with it about sun, body sweat, ect. Since I live in Florida, and my car is a Targa, he suggests this new product. The only difference i could see was it didnt smell like leather and the back looked different. He had so many styles and colors, all can be orderd with different textures to match the original leather of your car. To me sounds like a way I can leave the top off in the hot sun, then I will only worry about burning my buns
