Use a oil pressure guage and take a reading at the oil pressure sending unit where it comes off the block. Your sending unit could be bad or the dash guage could be malfunctioning. I would not disturb the oil pressure regulating screw. It is true you can change the pressure there but you are not correcting the problem. 85 psi does sound too high at warm idle. |

John - that is high. What does it do at 8000 RPM? The owners manual states that at operating temperature, the oil pressure at 8000 RPM should be 85 psi. (This observer does not recommend running the engine to 8000 RPM merely to test oil pressure - 6000 would do just fine.) There is an adjustment you can make at the base of the filter. There is a brass cap, which when removed, exposes a threaded adjustment screw. However, other than leaks that might be exposed, one can never have too much oil pressure. Unless, of course, it is caused by a plugged oil passage just distal to the transducer. Jim S. |

What should the oil pressure be at idle, I think mine is too high at 85psi |
