I thought it didn't make sense when you said: "...near the water pump pulley...", totally different beast altogether...

Either way if it is a vacuum hose. If the hose does not fit snuggly and you feel better using a clamp, it won't hurt anything.

Thanks guys, I found where the hose goes and put it back on. Is it supposed to have a clap on does it just slide on?

The pipe you are talking about connects to the lower half of the air cleaner box on my car and if left unattached would possibly rub on the water pump belt pulley. Remove the air cleaner assy and you will see where it goes.

Peter, Thanks for responding. I guess what model is an important piece of info. It is an 83 308. I thought in my manual it looked like it connected under the airbox but I was feeling around under it and couldn't seem to find somewhere for it to go on. I guess I will give it another shot tommorow morning. It says "F" is a flame arrestor. That sounds kind of important.

Fred, I don't know which model you have, but this hose you mention is one that my 308 GT4 has, as well as other carbureted 308's. In the image below, taken from my Owner's Manual, this hose should be connected to letter "F", which is a 3/4" O.D. pipe elbow on the underside of the air box.

Last night as I was just getting back from a drive I started hearing a high pitched whistle. After about a half hour of looking I noticed a hose that was touching the top of the waterpump pully. I moved the hose and the problem was fixed. Then I noticed that the end of the hose was not attached to anything. Here is where I need help. I looked in my owners manual on page 77 and found that the hose is labled "vapors pipe to air intake" one end is attached to the "oil drop vapour separator". The other end shows that it should be attached to something under the airbox but I can't find where it should go. Any help would be appreciated.
Fred
