From the looks of that mess I would replace all the trim and the windshield if it breaks why you try to take it out. I would also have that rust treated while the windshield is out to prevent future problems.

For what its worth, I bought my 308 about 6 months ago. I along with you suffer from the dreaded coating on the window. After many weeks of wiping hard to get this coating off my window began to seep water. I thought the only way to fix this was to have the window resealed. I found out that this cannot be done without removing the windshield. There is a GREAT chance that the windshield will bust when it is being removed. Thus you should expect to replace it when you remove it. That is not what I did. Realizing that cleaning the window was the reason it started leaking, I simply stopped wiping the window hard, using a better cleaner, and started pushing very fermly but easy on the outside of the window. Window sealant will reseal. It is like a very gewy rubberish compound that will reseal. So be for you start forking out the big bucks to change the window out, try pushing on the outside edges of the window and get it to reseal.

From the last pic that you show it looks like someone dug out the sealant. I would try and get some window sealant in a tube if possible from a local glass shop and reinject that area.

It needs to be removed and resealed. I just had to have that done. New moulding may be order if they cannot save it when the windshield is removed.

Another "cheap" solution is to get clear silicone
and apply to the area. Wipe with a wet rag to remove the excess.

What seal is recommended for fixing this leak? Can it be done without removing the glass?
