Gene, who rebuilt your clutch discs and plate resurfacing? I saw from you profile that you are in LA. I dropped the engine on my TR back in May. I believe there are a lot of similarities regarding that procedure for both the TR and the 348. I documented the whole thing in this forum, to read, go to "Testarossa 30K Service Phase I" |

Maranello Auto Parts (800-233-7820) sell a rebuild kit for the slave cylinder. Cost about $125, ask for Chris, he knows. |

Gene, I need to replace the slave cylinder / bearing on my 93 348TB as it has a small fluid leak. Was yours leaking as well? And if so, did you just replace the O rings? Thanks!! |

Thank you all for all your input... Clutchjob done. I used Spherics for the bearings. I used a local shop for rebuilding the clutch discs and surfacing the plates. Bought the 54.3mm exhaust doughnuts from Autozone. And of course... alot of personal elbow grease Man what a savings!!!! NEXT YEAR'S QUESTION... WHO HAS A STEP BY STEP PROCESS TO DROP THE 348 MOTOR FOR THE 30K SERVICE?

Gene: On other cars, I have removed blind pilot bearings by packing the hole full of the thickest wheel bearing grease you can find, then drive a slip-fit pilot into the hole where the trans input shaft goes. You may have to repack the hole a few times, but ultimately Hyraulic pressure (fluids don't compress) will force the bearing-out. |

Actually Spherics in Gardna California is an aerospace co. and they will rebuild your bearing! Last one I did cost $60 And the pilot bearin the one in the flywheel should be changed you just need a puller to do it. Basic job. |

Here's a pic of my 91 348 Challenge with the old bearing, I'm not sure if it has the newer style slave cylinder assembly, but I do know that for the bearing alone they were the same from 91-94, it was just that Ferrari kept changing the part number. It is near impossible to just find the bearing alone nowadays which is why you may need to buy the whole assembly. |

The bearing that you have described is the flywheel bearing. It has the small removable plate that covers the bearing and nut that holds it all together. If there is nothing wrong with it I don't believe that you will want to mess with it. The updated bearing that I was refering to is the clutch release bearing/slave cylinder assembly. Your release bearing, if original, looks like the bearing can be pressed out and replaced. This bearing is NLA. If you have a bad release bearing, you will have to replace the entire slave cylinder assembly. |

Tom, the bearing we are refering to is press fit to the clutch assembly cover housing. it doesn't seem like there's anything wrong with my bearing. isn't it recommended to replace this bearing though? could you also elaborate on the new style replacement that you mentioned? |

The 348 does not have a pilot bearing. After you remove the clutch housing, the throw out bearing will be right there on the back of the trans. The bearing alone is NLA from Ferrari. You would have to replace it with the new style assembly if there is something wrong with yours. |

Can someone give me advice on how do I properly remove the Pilot bearing and the Throw-out bearing? I'm also looking around for the replacement bearings..... |
