The leather shrunk from the sun and heat. The same thing that happens on dashes of old 928's and eventually all the new 360's etc. with leather up there.

A good upholstery shop can respray the foam. I had it done before I replaced my door panel skins.

The problem is that the steering wheel ( I have two daytonas) on both has "shrunk" for lack of better words to use, and needs the "foam" or whatever is under the leather. It is not just a leather replacement. Anyone have any experience with that?

Agla did do mine. I am happy with the result but it was costly. I just didn't know where else to go. I guess I should have asked here first.

I have had several steering wheels rebuilt here
in Toronto for less than that, and they were
as good as original or better.

I also just put a Wheelskins on my 308 today-certainly not original but is very nice quality and it looks fine. Call 1.800.755.2128, Roger B.

Doc. It's tough. I went through it last spring with my Momo. I gave up. Try a local upholstery shop. They can do it if the guy is good. Dont throw that kind of money at it. I got a black leather cover for now. Car still drives and handles good.I just keep watching Ebay. and auto sites.

Not sure of any other sources other than those mentioned....however, Dr. Cosgrove (fellow F-Chatter) had his redone by Agla, I believe...and he was very happy with the results.

Dr. Ibrahim, have you looked into using "WheelSkins"? I bought a custom sized WheelSkins black leather cover for mine from www.autoseattle.com and it practically looks factory. It will do the job until I'm ready to send the whole wheel off to Agla. The only downside is that you have to hand-stitch it onto the steering wheel (takes about 30 minutes). I still have all the info. on the receipts (for ordering purposes) if anyone is interested. Would be glad to post a pic as well.

maybe when you are getting your quotes don't tell them what kind of car it is for :-) or better yet tell them you just have a steering wheel and not the car. You might be getting ferrari price inflation

It might be worth checking and asking some of the manufacturers (MOMO, Nardi, etc.) if they have a restoration service....

Can anyone recommend any steering wheel restorers? I know of one in Fla. (Agla) that quoted me about 500 bucks to restore my daytona steering wheel...anyone else please?
