Yes Frank, my Speciale has a single muffler so I dont understand why the spyder tubi didnt fit.

Anybody interested in a spyder tubi, please send me an email!

Noelrp, did your car have the two can or one can muffler originally ? Tubi made several models for the 348 including for the early Tb/Ts cars which came with the two can mufflers, the later Tb/Ts models which came with the one can muffler, the GTB/GTS/Speciales and for the Spider. The mounting brackets are all a little different.

Hi John,

Could you upload the pic again. It's not visible on my end.

I'm going to a metal shop today to have the mounts removed & re-weld.

Thanks!

I think I figured out the problem. I have the wrong model (!). That explains why the mounting holes are so far off!

Just cut a bracket. go to local metal supplier. Ask if he has a scrap bin. They sell the stuff by the LB. Should cost about a buck for the metal.

Can't give any advise on the install but I would like to know where to purchase a Tubi. If my plans work out I will have a 348 Spider to play with soon and will experience the same thing you are.
Saving time on shopping this would help me.

Noel:

The holes did line up on my '92 348. I had to use some force on the springloaded bracket to keep the muffler tips from rubbing against the bumper - but everything should fit.

Noelp,
I cant find my digital pictures of my install...I dont know what the hell I did with them. I just went out and looked at here though. You are right about the mounting points and how they shoudl be squared I just used what I was given and bought a couple extra washers that I put on each side so that I could effectively space the exhaust left to right so that the outlets didnt touch the rear bumper after getting warm. I will take some more pictures tomorrow and post them as soon as I can.

John/Bruce,

Thanks for responding. Yes I have the brackets however, if you look at the mounting points (4 holes), they should be squared.

I am very disappointed with the design....I guess I'm the first? Please post the pic, I would like to know how you made it to fit.

Bruce, thanks for your info. It's good to know that I will not be the 1st to fabricate custom brackets for this.

Thx.

Man you should have a little bracket coming off of the frame with a spring inside of it to bolt on to the Tubi. That is what my car had anyways and the installation was very simple. It look as if your car had the bracket installed at one time or another, did you have another customer exhaust on the car? I dont have any pictures of the install here at my house but do have some at work that I will gladly post tomorrow for you. I cant believe you wouldnt have the mounting bracket because it is essential in providing shock dampening to the exhaust so that you dont crack a set of headers and what not from the vibration. Feel free to email me and I will be more than happy to give you a call to assist.

John

Hi,

Can somebody take a picture of their tubi in a 348 spyder? I need to see how it is mounted.

In my car, the tubi exhaust brackets are 3 inches away from the chassis mounts.
I think I need a custom bracket...and i thought it's a drop-in unit.

TIA
